So this is one of those outfits that I felt like dynamite in, but then when I took some pictures and checked them out, I decided that maybeee this isn't my most flattering silhouette?

But you know what? That doesn't matter because I love these pants. I love how retro-90's I feel in them. I love the ridiculous silky lining. I love the puff sleeves on this top. I love these shoes. My hair was fun to play with today. So, you know what? So what if this outfit makes me look midget-short and top-heavy. There are more important things. Right?

I got a free polo shirt from work today. It has a pretty sexy brand name embroided on the chest in gold and the head salesman in my department just gave it to me because he happened to have it lying around. And it fits like a glove and makes me super dorky happy because I like my job so much and it's the first time I've had a job where people are this nice to each other all the time. Also I got a free travel mug for my coffee and a couple of cases of filled croissants.

How have your weeks been so far, kiddos?

The last two posts confused me so much, guys. Everyone kept asking why I was such a creep and had binoculars on my windowsill.

"Binoculars?" says I. "What binoculars would my fellow bloggers possibly be talking about?"

And then I looked more closely and realized that, when supine, the PlayStation Move controllers look just like I'm a huge creep and like staring into hospital windows. Well played, all.

In other news, I had a pretty awful night of sleep last night, so today I went for an unbelted dress and a blazer that feels like a hoodie. And I wondered if I could get away with wearing boots to work and then found out that I could.

Oh, and in these pictures I'm not looking at the camera. I don't know if you all noticed. Usually I'm avoiding the camera for no reason, but this time I'm waching Zach Garliflankis host SNL. And it's funny. And it's where my post title is from. Kaboom kabam.

We're watching hockey right now. Don't even get me started on Buffalo sports teams, people. (If Buffalo didn't have the Sabres, no one in Buffalo would live through the depression of Bills season. Okay, done.)

See how I turned my regular top into business-casual appropriate? Kabam kaboom.

Boyf took these pictures in progressively closer increments, and then told me that if I didn't post them in order so everyone could appreciate his mastery, he's never taking my picture again.

So I guess I'm gonna have to get creative, yeah?

I got up early today, wore a blazer, went to work and did my taxes. Guys, I am just a 401K plan away from real adulthood. Should I be proud or scared?

The good thing is that both governments decided I'd been too impoverished during 2010 to tax me and gave me some money out of pure sympathy instead.

...That's how it works, right?

YES YES YES

Things I am head-over-heels loving at this precise moment in time:

I love her dress. I love her shoes. I love the weather she gets to enjoy. (Sun? What's that?) Most of all, I love her pup. I want this to be my life. I can't wait for sunny days and bright print dresses and having enough money to be able to buy clothes again.

Adele, I love you. Why did it take me this long to discover? Go to grooveshark and listen to her album. Or just buy it, whatever. You can thank me later, yeah?

What are you guys loving on right now?

POOKERS!

Oh, hi.  Just me and the most fabulous of pookumses, stopping by to say hello.  Isn't she adorable?  She didn't want to look at the camera, but I said, "Baby, now is your time to shine!"  But she still wouldn't listen, so I had to hold her head up, which is why the last picture makes it look like she has one wonky eye.  Poor baby.

So, as you can possibly guess, I went home for the weekend.  It was a long car ride and I forgot my adaptor tape at home (Helloooo, 2002), but I found NPR on the radio and it was all gravy.  I did some laundry, cleaned out my car, and picked up some stuff I need.  And hung out with my family, which is obviously the best part.

In case I hadn't mentioned it before, my parents are both super talented.  As in, they can make stuff with their hands.  My mom did the costumes and Dad did the sets for my old high school's musical.  It premiered last night, and Dad and I are going to the show tonight.  Mom is going to be there, too, obviously, but she'll be backstage wrangling irritating teens into period costumes.  I personally think I got the better end of the deal.

In other news, what you see here is the Best Bargain Ever, aka the leather skirt I got for $1.00 at the Goodwill.  Feast your eyes.  And then tell me whether you think bodysuits are okay or not.  I think I'm a fan, but that could be my dance background talking.  Boyf thinks the fact that they snap at the crotch is creepy.  He might have a point.  Thoughts?

it's a new dawn, it's a new day

1) I need to do something with my hair. Once I get my bangs trimmed up, the disaster that caused my one-picture-post will be somewhat cleared up, but I can't decide whether to let it grow out, or go short again. I wish I had straight hair so I could have a short little bob. Boo-urns.

2) My mother always says that I don't need to shop like I say I do. And she's right. But, really? I desperately need some new work tops. Thrift stores are good for everything else, and I have plenty of skirts and dresses, but tops are hard for me because of my chest. (Gaping buttons, etc.) And I need some. Any tips, ladies?

3) My new job is the best! Granted, I'm still training and a little overwhelmed right now, but everyone keeps welcoming me and they're so friendly. I talked to the IT guy at the corporate office today and he told me about the great company discounts we get on Dell products (I'm an Apple girl all the way, but it was still nice of him to tell me) and joked around and it was great. Yesterday, the power went out for about an hour and everyone went to go round up candles so we could see. And they put me in the system so I can answer emails and phones. And they got me a computer for my very own! And we have a jeans day tomorrow and I don't have to wear heels. Hah.

4) Isn't it funny how environment effects what you wear? At my old job, it was all about being sleek and vaguely sexy. At my new job, almost everyone is middle-aged and they dress...comfortably. I've been living in cardigans, roomy skirts, and flats. Now I just need to find a way to chic it up. I could have brightened up this cream-tan-brown-navy neutrals-fest with a bright necklace, but decided against it. Am I sartorially lazy, or just adapting to my environment?

oh, just vloggin'

Please excuse my double chins, slurry speech, and some of the questionable garments I bought today. Also, I promise I'm not stupid, I just say "super" way too much in real life.

In other news: ZOMG FACETIME! What's up, guys? :)

Guys. Today was a really good day. I woke up and looked at myself in the mirror and I thought, "Hot damn. You are looking fine today, hot stuff!" Which, um, never happens first thing in the morning when I am wearing glasses. But I decided to leave my hair how it was (dirty) and my glasses on (super sexy) and just go with it.

Boyf is feeling a little sicky but we went to the coffee shop and had BIG Americanos and magically everything was better! I love that coffee shop, guys. If you're ever in Buffalo, go to Sweet_ness7. They have stamped tin ceilings and awesome chalkboards everywhere and homemade food and coffee in fantastic mismatched mugs. Somehow the Americano made writing easier, which always makes me happy.

Then we went to a used bookstore which is going out of business. That's sad, but everything is 50% off! Which is good. I bought two old school cookbooks just because old school cooks really knew what was up when it came to desserts. Lard sounds gross, but it makes for one helluva pie crust. Divinity frosting? Yes, please.

Then we went to the record store. And I got ZZ Top's Live From Texas. I almost threw up from sheer joy. I know it's weird, but I am so obsessed with ZZ Top it's not even funny. I want to wear a jeweled suit forever and follow them around in a big van.

Then we went to Applebee's and got free food with a gift card. I got a reuben. And then we went to the liquor store and there was a wine tasting with wines from the town where I went to college.

Oh and also, it was kind of warm-ish today. And these tights make me super happy. And these flats remind me of ones that Cait has. Aw.

I hope you guys had as good a day as I did! What are you all up to this weekend?

uniforms

shoes- etsy
tights- we love colors
dress- urban outfitters
belt- forever 21

I will forever have a soft spot for outfits like this one. During my senior year of college, when I finally got comfortable enough in my own skin to throw off the uniform that my Western New York SUNY school had imposed upon me (One of my friends got legitimately angry with me the first time I brought a pair of skinny jeans home), this dress, thick belts, and black tights were the first things I bought. I have this dress in two colors, and even though I've since graduated to skinny belts, I will always love the snug elasticity of these big, chunky belts. And you guys know how much I love tights.

I shortly gradated from this uniform to black tights with denim cutoffs, my cheapie black Target boots, and whatever I could find to throw on top, but this dress-belt-tights uniform will always feel comfortable to me. I can jazz it up anyway I want, mix in new colors, make it monochrome if I want to, make it classy or make it casual. Even if Boyf does think the dress is a little too boob-tastic for general company.

I guess my above-stated uniforms kind of show what I like when it comes to fashion. I still gravitate towards neutrals, but I do like color as accents. I'm obsessed with denim. I like pockets. I love shoes, especially flat ones. I like emphasizing my waist and you're more likely to see me wearing solids or interesting textures over crazy patterns and prints.

What about you guys? Do you have a "uniform", or something you feel most comfortable in? Do you think these items provide any particular insight into your personal fashion?

Guys. I am a delinquent blogger. I say this every time. BUT BUT BUT! I quit my horrible job on Monday because I got offered a brand spankin' NEW job with new, NICE people this past Friday! You guys, I am so excited I can barely express it. Walking out of that crazy office for good? Best feeling ever. I'm filling out all my new employee info for My New Job, and there's definitely nothing there requiring me to wear heels every day. Though I'm sure I could toss them in every once in a while if I felt like it. :)

I don't start until Monday, so I'm bumming around the apartment for now. I'm thinking of going home and seeing the fam for a couple days.

Also, today the Boyf and I went to the gourmet market with a gift card and we got rose hip jam, havarti dill cheese, Mardi Grad salad, and Wasa crispbread. And then we went home and partied like it was 1999, y'all.
